New Research, Development and Innovation Strategy launched

The Welsh Blood Service has launched its new Research, Development, and Innovation (RD&I) strategy, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing healthcare, advancing blood and transplant services, and ultimately improving the lives of donors and patients across Wales.

The strategy outlines how the Welsh Blood Service will lead and provide resources for RD&I activities, ensuring Wales remains at the forefront of pioneering research and healthcare improvements. A key mission of the strategy is to improve patient and donor experiences, a goal that remains central to the organisation’s vision.

“The new strategy focuses on embedding research and innovation across all areas of the Welsh Blood Service.

By fostering world-class research and collaborating with Health Boards, transfusion services, donors and other key partners, we aim to represent Wales on a global stage in transfusion and transplantation science.

Our continued partnerships will drive meaningful advancements in patient and donor care.

The strategy is structured around seven key missions, each designed to support the organisation’s objectives and ensure a focused approach to RD&I activities.
